University of Pittsburgh

Harbison Duo

September 3, 2017 - 3:00pm - 4:00pm

Rich and Zoe Harbison perform a recital of viola and double bass music, both solo and duet.  Works spanning the centuries from Bach to Nicholas Walker will be featured.

Rich and Zoe Harbison are a viola and double bass duo that have been playing together since they met in 2012. Both Rich and Zoe attended the University of South Carolina and received Bachelor's degrees in Music Education with Performance Certificate. The couple are currently attending Carnegie Mellon University and pursuing Master's degrees in Music Performance. While in Pittsburgh, Zoe has acted as principal viola of the CMU Philharmonic, guest principal viola of the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra, and has substituted in the viola sections of the Erie Philharmonic and the Westmoreland Philharmonic. Rich has performed with many groups in the Pittsburgh area, including substituting in the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra and the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra, and has played with local groups NAT28 and Resonance Works. The Harbisons love putting their somewhat underrepresented instruments on display with solo and duo works.

Admission is free.
