Reservations and Fees

Heinz Chapel Changes its Wedding Reservations Policy

For many years, the earliest the chapel accepted reservations was one year in advance, by the month.  As of January 4, 2016, couples can reserve wedding dates and times up to two years in advance.

Reserving a Date and Time

Reservations for dates two years in advance may be made beginning on the first business day of each month for all weddings in that month.  Reservations are by telephone only, beginning at 8:30 a.m.  Calls are placed in an automated queue and will be answered in the order they are received.

*Any dates and times that have not been reserved following the first business day of the month may be reserved at any time.*

If you wish to learn the availability of dates and times for months that are already open, check our wedding calendar or call the chapel office. 
To make a reservation call the chapel office Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Required Information

When you are called, be prepared to provide the following:

  • The couple's full names
  • The couple's mailing address(es)
  • A cellular telephone number for each
  • Email addresses for each
  • The year of graduation from the University of Pittsburgh, if applicable.


The fee for weddings at Heinz Memorial Chapel is $1,500.  The full fee is charged to your credit card at the time of reservation.  The reservation fee covers two on-site staff coordinators and an organist at your scheduled rehearsal and ceremony as well as reserved parking on your wedding day.

Alumni Discount

There is a 15% discount if either of the couple holds a degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
Discounts cannot be combined.

Military Discount

There is a 20% discount for current or former military applicants - Active, Guard or Reserve.  A copy of the Common Access Card (CAC, current military) or DD Form 214 (former military) must be provided.
Discounts cannot be combined.


Select a new date from the dates and times currently available and call the Heinz Chapel office.  Requests for a rescheduled date received less than 180 days prior to the scheduled wedding will be charged a $250 change fee.  A confirmed wedding date may be rescheduled only one time.


There is a $250 handling fee for all cancellations.  If you cancel:

  • Within the first 30 days the balance will be refunded to your credit card.
  • After 30 days a tax credit for the balance will be issued for a cancellation received 180 days prior to the confirmed date.  The monies will be transferred to the Heinz Chapel Building Fund.
  • With less than 180 days to your confirmed date, you forfeit all fees paid to the Chapel.
  • Reservations are non-transferable.
