Our upcoming events

Heinz Memorial Chapel hosts a number of public events and concerts each semester.
Please note that all of our events use the wooden pews for seating. We have seat cushions available in our gift shop for purchase or you can bring your own. The temperature in our historic building can feel cold to some guests - you may want to bring a blanket or extra layer for comfort.

Pitt Day of Giving Concert
Tuesday, February 24, 2-3 PM
In celebration of the support for Heinz Chapel on Pitt Day of Giving. Pitt Music alumna and current post-graduate student Pamela Shaw, SPC, MA, MLS will perform and share her unique experience playing the Chapel’s Reuter Organ. In addition, Sarah Richards and Rose Silver, from the Pittsburgh Oratory, will add their voices to a few selections including Ava Maria.
Pitt Day of Giving is a special opportunity for the university community and friends to come together to make a brighter future for Pitt students and programs. When you make a gift, you directly support the preservation of this architectural gem, its glorious organ, and programming for Pitt students.

University of Pittsburgh Bluegrass Ensemble Concert
Wednesday, March 4, 7-8 PM
Since its founding in 2023, the University of Pittsburgh Bluegrass Ensemble has explored the canon of American roots music from a multi-generational, multi-cultural perspective.  Led by Bryce Rabideau, the group has developed a wide-ranging repertoire that includes 19th century fiddle tunes, gospel classics, popular country hits, and genre-bending newgrass compositions.

The Concert of The Heritage Gospel Chorale of Pittsburgh
Saturday, March 7, 7-8:30 PM
Featuring music from selected African American male and female arrangers and composers, the repertoire will include a Tribute to the Late Richard Smallwood, who passed on December 30, 2025, and was a 40-Year colleague of Dr. Herbert Jones, Founder-Director of the Chorale. The concert will be an evening of praise and fellowship in song, as well as a celebration of community, in community, with community.

Women in the Windows Tours
Multiple dates in March
Heinz Memorial Chapel celebrates Women’s History Month with tours highlighting women depicted in its stunning stained-glass windows. This year’s national theme of Women and Sustainability aligns well with the leadership, vision and legacy of several women honored at Heinz Chapel.

Mike Tamburo Sound Meditation Concert
Thursday, April 23, 7:30-9:30 PM
Enter a timeless space of listening as Crown of Eternity's Mike Tamburo orchestrates his way through 40+ overtone rich instruments including Gongs, Bells, Hammered Dulcimer and tuned metal instruments. Listeners have described Mike Tamburo's music as an adventure in listening, sonic bliss, a deep and lasting vibrational rejuvenation for body and soul, a profound aesthetic experience, and a journey through the senses and a perceptual rollercoaster. Allow yourself to be still and listen to this captivating sonic experience that harmonizes mind, body, and spirit.

Mega Surround Sound Bath Concert

Committed to creating peace in our community, 30 musicians and sound practitioners join forces to offer Pittsburgh’s largest sound bath in the iconic beauty of Heinz Chapel. This Mega Surround Sound Bath is orchestrated by Monique Mead and her team of 30 musicians and sound practitioners, offering a unique blend of music and immersive soundscapes designed to melt stress and draw you inward. You’ll sit or lie comfortably, gazing up at the spectacular stained glass windows as sounds from 70+ singing bowls resonate from the entire perimeter of Heinz Chapel and envelop you in soothing vibrations. During this 90-minute journey, you’ll also encounter transcendent melodies on violin, harp, flute, and voice, arising from the soundscape and dissolving back into silence—each offering a message of peace and lovingkindness.

An opportunity for prayer and guidance for Pitt students.

Wednesdays 1-3 PM
Relax and recharge with some coloring and sweet treats. All supplies are provided.
